POLDER On Line Help
POLDER On Line Help
General Overview
The principle of our ordering tool is to select POLDER products and then to send the corresponding order by e-mail to the POLDER Ground Segment. Three selection modes are offered; the most convenient for Level 1 and Level 2 products is the "Daily Browse" consultation which offers a graphical interface.
You will be proposed successive forms: it will be possible for you to get this help at any moment.
User Identification
Fill each field for your identification: don't omit anyone, they are all mandatory.
Each time you will come back to this page using the "back" button or the left arrow at the bottom of the page, the User Identification information will be restored.

Date or Date & Area Selection Mode
Fill the date fields of your period of interest. The date format will be checked by the ordering tool. The availability of data will be checked using the "POLDER Catalog", but you might consult it before. If you have selected several types and thematics of products, only dates available for all products will be considered as valid.
For the "Area Selection", give the north/west and south/east geographic coordinates of a rectangular area. Coordinates will be checked.
Note that only an extraction by latitude is performed, no longitude selection is made for the extraction process. Use the "ZONE software" for longitude selection.
Orbit Selection Mode
You can select up to 6 orbits of POLDER data. This mode requires to know the cycle and orbit numbers (from browse product vizualisation for example). Note that data availability is not checked.
Daily Browse Selection Mode
This mode connects you to the "Daily Browse" page. It enables you to consult POLDER Daily Browse, select cloud-free dates on a particular area. An order sheet will be filled automatically and sent to the POLDER Ground Segment. A specific help will be at your disposal.
Order Elaboration
Each time you use the "add to order" button, your selection criteria will be displayed in the second window called "Order Elaboration". This window contains your identification and lists your selection in which you can still remove any item. It also enables you to select the type of media you need and add a comment to your order. When your selection is finished, click the "Prepare Order" button to display the "Generated Order" window representing the e-mail planned to be sent to the POLDER Ground Segment. Finally, you will be prompted to send your order ("Send Order" button) or to discard it ("Cancel"button).
Media
DO NOT FORGET to choose the media type in the "ORDER ELABORATION" window.
Refer to the table above to know which kind of media is available according to the product level/type. For Level1 and Level 2 products, if you can't read neither DLT nor 5 Gb Exabytes, please indicate us exactly in the message area which model of drive you have. We will do our best to satisfy you.
"DLT" have been chosen for their high efficiency (1.25 megabytes per second) and storage capacity (more than 10GB).
Exabytes drives are configured in order to optimize writting time and volume: more than 500 KB/sec and 5GB capacity. But this means that Exabyte drive EXB8200 and EXB8200SX cannot read Polder tapes.
To read one POLDER level 1 product from a DLT tape, about 7 minutes are necessary. In comparison, around 20 minutes are necessary to read the same product from a compressed Exabyte 8 mm tape (respectively 30 minutes for a non compressed Exabyte).
