Processing Activities of the POLDER Ground Segment
Processing Activities of the POLDER Ground Segment
2002: Ocean color and aerosols over ocean products have been reprocessed from new level 1 archive. Significative improvements have been added to ocean color processing.
2001: After detection and correction of a small non-linearity defect in the POLDER instrument, the radiometric calibration has been reappraised and a modified level 1 processing chain has been applied to all POLDER 1 measurements.
2000: Ocean color and aerosols over ocean products have been reprocessed from level 1 archive. But we decided not to distribute the new ocean color products because an improvement was made in the calibration of POLDER (correction of a small non-linearity of the detectors) which will have a significant impact on the ocean color products quality.
A new bio-optical algorithm only based on the 490/565 nm diffuse marine reflectance ratio has been applied to obtain a SeaWiFS-like chlorophyll concentration presented in the Scientific Products rubric. That parameter was not include in the standard product. Complete ocean color products are planned to be distributed as soon as the 443 nm channel will have been corrected.
1998: POLDER Level 1 archive has been completed on February 18, 1998. Browse and Level 1 POLDER products over the 8 months of ADEOS life are now available to all users.
POLDER scientific processing has been completed on January 29, 1999. Level-2 and Level-3 POLDER products over the 8 months of ADEOS life are now available to all users, except aerosols over land (although very promising, they are still in validation phase).
